12th Step Committees


These committees strengthen the recovery of the FA fellowship

The 12 Step Committee helps members of the fellowship grow in recovery through service at meetings, intergroups, chapters, and World Service, develops written and audio resources for members via phone and internet, and offers support to those members isolated due to distance, language barriers, and physical limitations. 12th Step subcommittees include Meeting Effectiveness, Support and Assistance (MESA); Newcomer Support and Assistance Subcommittee (NSA); and Conference (Voting) Member Support and Assistance (CMSA).

The Meeting Effectiveness Support and Assistance Subcommittee (MESA)

An effective FA meeting helps its members attain and maintain abstinence, while carrying the message of recovery to still-suffering food addicts. MESA assists FA meeting groups increase their effectiveness through written guidance, and telephone support. FA members are encouraged to email MESA at MESA@foodaddicts.org for direct assistance with concerns about meeting effectiveness, or issues of safety and accessibility. The Newcomer Support and Assistance Subcommittee (NSA)

The purpose of NSA is to provide support and assistance to the newcomer to better understand what to do when they first come to FA. Additionally this subcommittee helps existing members support newcomers, fosters a welcoming environment for newcomers and aids in the retention of members. Read more here.
