Letter from the WSI Convention Planning Committee about the Format of the 2026 World Service Business Convention

After careful consideration between the Convention Planning Committee and the WSI Board, we have made the decision to host the 2026 FA World Service Business Convention in-person only in Danvers, Massachusetts, May 29 - May 31, 2026.

While we are filled with gratitude for the participation of the worldwide FA fellowship in the 2025 Hybrid Convention, repeating a hybrid event in 2026 would set up FA for a significant financial loss. This financial loss stems from the requirements of FA's contract with the Doubletree Hilton hotel, which will only expire after our in-person convention in 2026.  

Last year's 2025 convention was an experiment in the effectiveness and financial impact of offering a hybrid business convention option. Although it is not possible to host a hybrid convention this year, we are reviewing options for after our hotel contract expires, including changing the scale or location of the conference venue, rotating the Business Convention between a virtual format and an in-person format, or hosting an all-virtual Business Convention and an in-person Fellowship Convention. We look forward to considering these options together and choosing a solution that is both financially stable and includes the needs of FA's members worldwide.

This year we suggest that each meeting nominate a WSBC Voting Member with the physical ability to travel to Danvers, Massachusetts in May 2026. If finances pose an obstacle to travel, funds will be available from the Financial Aid Committees of EAI and WAI. Applications for financial aid will be posted at the same time as Business Convention Registration.

Deadlines

• The last day to register online to attend the convention in person is April 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.
• On-site registration will be available to attend in person in Danvers MA at an increased cost.
• WSC voting members must register before March 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT. Voting members can register using the same simple form used to purchase meals and registration.

Information for in person attendees

• Hotel reservations are not included in your FA Convention reservation. You must book your room separately. To book your room call 978-777-2500 and use the discount code TBD, or use the LINK TO BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOM AT THE DOUBLETREE FORTHCOMING
• Mini-refrigerators and microwaves are available in all guest hotel rooms. A limited number of larger refrigerators and microwaves will be available in the hotel hospitality suites throughout the weekend.
• CANCELLATION PROCEDURE: Please cancel your room reservation at the DoubleTree by Hilton directly with the hotel — the FA Office does not handle room cancellations. 
• Meal Plan: We provide only one food plan for the Business Convention. Members that choose not to buy the food plan are welcome to bring their own food and eat in the hospitality suites provided by the hotel. If you are planning to arrive past 7:00pm on Friday, May 29, please arrange for your own meal, as the hotel will not serve latecomers. Note you will not be allowed to change your meal plan after you have paid/registered.

Refund Policy

Refunds will be made only if REQUESTED BY EMAIL to the FA World Service Office BY April 30, 2026. No changes can be made to meal plan purchases after April 30, 2026. Any registration or meal plan change that results in a refund will incur a charge of $10. In no case will I dispute this charge with my credit card company for any reason. I agree to take any issues to FA-WSI by email only for resolution (fa@foodaddicts.org).
