How to Disable Zoom’s AI to Protect Anonymity

Zoom’s AI Companion, which can transcribe meetings and share summaries that include participant names and phone numbers, violates FA’s Eleventh and Twelfth Traditions, which protect every member’s anonymity and place principles before personalities.

To protect anonymity at every FA videoconference meeting, please ensure your meeting takes these steps to disable Zoom’s AI Companion:

  1. Sign in as the host on Zoom

  2. Click Settings (gear icon) → AI Companion

  3. Toggle AI Companion to “Off”

  4. Confirm that Meeting Summary with AI Companion and all other AI features are disabled

Thank you for helping ensure FA remains a safe and anonymous space for all. As we learn more about AI’s potential to help with meeting access, including accommodating fellows with language translation, hearing or verbal communication needs, we will continue to evolve our best practices, always remaining true to FA’s spiritual principles and traditions. In the meantime, we suggest caution if someone logs on with an automated/computerized voice.
